  • Developed synthesis method of carbohydrate-containing silica nanoparticles and characterized these materials via electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and gas adsorption techniques resulting in several publications and presentations
  • Collaborated with the Walton/Chan group in the Chemical Engineering Department at Michigan State University to develop siRNA delivery vehicles in in vitro studies
  • Mentored and trained undergraduate and new graduate students in the Smith and Walton/Chan research groups on safety, instrument use, and written and oral communication
